Our primary goal in designing the layout of The Ark was to avoid the traditional isolated cubicles of traditional serviced office designs . Our challenge was to do this in a way that still enabled individuals to enjoy a degree of seclusion and comfort, with the ability to freely interact with others when they choose.

Drawing on the best in workplace and organisational design, over a period of five years we developed the concepts that we have put into practice in The Ark . Rather than alienating expanses of workstations , they are clustered in groups .

Workstations have been positioned to minimise the impact of flow-through visitor traffic, while still offering a sense of space and maximising the natural light from the large arched windows.

Functional areas such as the kitchen, toilets, machine room and data room have been grouped away from workspaces to limit extraneous noise and interruption.

Tenants are free to move between different workspaces and meeting rooms including the comfortable lounge area , and they can take their cordless DECT phones with them. All areas have data points.
